Your software tool could be capable of executing the most complex tasks accurately – but it would need a trained expert to navigate through multiple options & modules to acheive this. But suppose an untrained user could ask the software to execute the same complex tasks with a single natural-language command?
Let’s just say that they can have a conversation with your software tool and exploit existing features with “no user training.”
There was a time when one principle of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) was “No unplanned surprises.” And thanks to limitations in computing power, we were happy to give one instruction at a time to computer softwares. Soon, you will be able to specify a sequence of tasks for the same computer software!
Humans have always processed information in terms of multiple, related data & tasks. In fact, the smarter ones usually factor in their ongoing and future commitments & plans which may span over weeks or even months! How do you make sure that while replying to your email you can see multipl email threads? This may include an ongoing project for the same client, your own long and short term commitments & goals, etc.
